Federation Urges Govt To Fix INDECOM 'Flaws'

Head of the Police Federation Sergeant Raymond Wilson during a press conference yesterday called on the government for help to police the Independent Commission of Investigations following two recent Court rulings. Sergeants Wilson referred to the rulings on Stop and Search operations and the lawful powers of arrest given to personnel at the INDECOM. The Police Federation head stated that these rulings have resulted in low morale in the police force and have made criminals emboldened in their activities. "We are therefore appealing to our employer the Government and more so the Minister of National Security the Honourable Peter Bunting, to make the requisite recommendations to fix the flaws in the INDECOM act that are depriving police officers of their Constitutional rights and which enable INDECOM to treat our colleagues as criminals when they carry out their lawful duties."
