Holmwood Strikes Deal With Bus Operators
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Board of Holmwood Technical High School has entered into an agreement with a select group of bus operators to transport students, starting next Monday.
The decision comes in the wake of a deadly crash in Chudleigh district Manchester that clamed the lives of four Holmwood students.
According to chairman of the School Board, Ruel Crawford, three special hubs have been created for access to these buses.
Ten buses are designated for the Mandeville hub and two buses each for the Albert Town and Cave Valley hubs.
These specially marked buses will provide transportation for the approximately 800 Holmwood students, the Board chairman said.
Crawford said that the Holmwood administration, in conjunction with the Transport Authority and Jamaica Constabulary Force traffic officers, will monitor the system so as to ensure its smooth operation.
The method of collecting bus fares, Crawford said, will be refined by Friday this week when the temporary service offered by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company comes to an end.
