A woman driving a black Lexus tried to ram through a White House barricade Thursday, then led police on a chase that ended in gunfire outside the Capitol, witnesses and officials said.
The incident reportedly began when an unidentified woman tried to drive through a barricade at the White House. She had a child in the back seat of her vehicle. The woman fled the area and ended up at the Capitol, where she reportedly tried to drive through another barricade.
Authorities opened fire on the vehicle, killing the woman, authorities say.
Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer said a child was taken from the car to a hospital but said he knew of no harm to the youngster. The child appeared to be about 2 to 3 years old.
CNN reports that the FBI is executing a search warrant in Connecticut at the home of the woman killed in the shooting.
FBI agents rushed to the scene and Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer said: “There are reports of injuries.”
As a warning was sounded, the House abruptly went into recess and lawmakers left the chamber floor. The Senate also suspended business.

People standing outside the Supreme Court across the street from Congress were hurried into the court building by authorities.
After nearly an hour, police ended the lockdown.
The White House was quickly locked down after the incident at Capitol Hill and the stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the compound was closed to pedestrians. Secret Service said the procedures were precautionary.

Cops reportedly fired into the ladies infiniti car several times hitting her in the chest. The baby had blood on their face but doesn’t appear to be injured.
Get this… the cops on Capitol Hill are NOT getting paid due to the stupid politicians shutting down the government , but it didn’t make a difference they showed up for duty! Thank you guys
