Education Minister Ronald Thwaites Asks JUTC To Transport Manchester Students
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Education Minister Ronald Thwaites has asked the Ministry of Transport and Works to provide Jamaica Urban Transit Company buses to transport students in north-eastern Manchester.
Thwaites’ request comes in the wake of a deadly crash on the Chudleigh main road in Manchester Wednesday morning, which claimed the life of three Holmwood Technical High School students.
Thwaites also stated that a team from his Ministry’s regional office visited the school, and along with the Guidance personnel, offered grief counselling.
Thwaites noted that there was “too much indiscipline” among bus crews, while repeating his call to the Transport Authority to introduce measures to govern the conduct of operators of public passenger vehicles who transport students.
