Levante took a shock lead from a quick counter attack when Babacar Diawara scored to send the home fans at Levante in celebration. Madrid were level when Sergio Ramos headed the ball into the back of the net from a corner. Levante scored in the 85th minute from substitute El Zhar. Another substitute scored this time for Madrid when Morata fired home on 90 minutes. Both sides then attempted to find the winner, but it was 's deflected shot that found the back of the net that sealed the game for Real Madrid.
