BIG NEWS FOR TAMAR’S “THE REAL” TALK SHOW

A second new talk-show hosted by a panel of women went up against ASPiRE’s Exhale this summer, during a 4-week test run on a select few FOX stations.Apparently, it was a successful test, because the talk-show has been picked up, getting a nationwide booking, and will begin airing on FOX TV stations, starting in the fall of 2014 – joining an already crowded day-time talk-show circuit on network television. Hosted by Tamera Mowry-Housley, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Adrienne Bailon, and Jeannie Mai, the new talk-show, titled The Real, will also air on BET, in a secondary window – a similar arrangement as with The Wendy Williams Show. “The Real” is led by five bold, diverse and outspoken hosts [...] These women reflect the home audience and unapologetically say what women are actually thinking. Their unique perspectives are brought to life through their candid conversations about topics ranging from their own personal lives to the news of the day to beauty, fashion and relationships. You’ll recall that ASPiRE, the new television network from Magic Johnson Enterprises, greenlit its first talk show – Exhale – earlier this year, with Angela Burt-Murray, Erin Jackson, Issa Rae, Malinda Williams and Rene Syler all hosting, and gave it a summer test run as well. And just like Exhale, FOX’s new entry into the talk show space has also been compared to existing all-female-hosted talk shows like The View, and others. As I noted, the day-time TV talk-show space is already crowded enough; surely, every single on of the existing (and upcoming new) shows can’t all survive. And I should mention that a good number of those shows are hosted (solely, or co-hosted) by black public personalities. Here’s a clip from the final episode of The Real, at the end of its summer test run… What do you think…who’s watching?
