DAD & 7-MONTH-OLD GUNNED DOWN IN HIS CAR SEAT

Now this is just a damn shame! A 25-year-old man and his 7-month-old son were killed after a shooting Wednesday night in New Orleans near the foot on the Crescent City Connection, according to police. The man was pronounced dead inside a black Honda near the toll plaza. The infant died at the hospital of a gunshot wound to the head. Two other women inside Honda were unharmed. New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said police believe the incident began around 9 p.m. with shots fired from a dark-colored SUV at the Honda in the 2100 block of Gen. Degaulle. He said this was not a random act and that police believe the shooter and the adult victim knew each other. The identities of the victims have not been released. “I’ve been crossing under yellow tape for decades, and it’s difficult and disturbing every single time. But it was heartbreaking to see what was clearly a bullet hole in the side of a baby’s car seat,” Serpas said. “No family should have to endure the murder of a 7-month-old baby.”Our detectives are doing all they can to gather information to identify those involved. But we need people who know something about this to call us. Simply put: it’s the decent thing to do. It’s the right thing to do. And it’s our most effective way to put an end to senseless violence,” Serpas said. If you know anything about last night’s shooting, please call CrimeStoppers at (504)822-1111.
