Jamal Mashburn Made Pennies Compared To Iverson But Owns 71 Restauran
You’ve seen the stories over and over again, athletes make millions and then blow it all and end up in bankruptcy court or worse.By far the worse rags to riches to rags story is Allen Iverson. We toldya he says he can’t even buy a damn cheeseburger these days!
But it’s a totally different story for ex NBA baller Jamal Mashburn. He had a lot of talent, but not nearly as much as Iverson. Rather than blowing all of his money on nothing and ending up in the financial doghouse, Mashburn transformed the pennies of the NBA into a net worth that nearly matches that of many NBA owners. A financial adviser from ProceedToWakeup.com wrote this on Facebook and we wanted to bring it to your attention:
Jamal Mashburn earned $75 million during his NBA career, prior to having his career cut short due to knee injuries. Allen Iverson earned more than $200 million during his career, prior to having his career cut short due to his nasty attitude, along with his lack of respect for authority. Jamal Mashburn now owns 34 Outback Steakhouse restaurants, 37 Papa John’s restaurants, two car dealerships, and a real estate company in the state of Kentucky. Allen Iverson is broke, and owes $30 million in debt. “The amount of money that you have has got nothing to do with what you earn. People earning a million dollars per year can have no money. People earning $35,000 per year can be quite well off. It’s not what you EARN. It’s what you SPEND.” -Paul Clitheroe
That’s how a true BOSS manages his money. Now to be fair folks – BMS has told you that Allen Iverson is BROKE right now BUT he is due to paid millions when he’s older. Reebok signed him to a huge endorsement deal, including a deferred trust worth more than $30 million, a lump sum he can’t touch until he turns 55.
Iverson is set to get nearly $30 million in about 18 years. Let’s hope he can live nicely off of that at the young age of 55.
What do you think?
