MIAMI DOLPHINS NFL STAR LEAVES TEAM AFTER HE’S BULLIED FOR BEING GAY?

An apparent lunch room prank gone awry has led to Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin leaving the team. Rumors are swirling he’s being bullied because he’s gay.Martin hasn’t been with the team since an incident on Monday when he was the victim of a prank in the cafeteria. According to FOX Sports’ Joe Glazer, the last straw occurred when Martin’s teammates pulled a typical trick in the lunchroom: when the last team member sits down for lunch the other players stand up to leave. Martin’s teammates reportedly pulled the trick on him, causing him to snap and smash his lunch tray. Teammates say Martin “flipped out, smashed a food tray on the ground, took off, and they haven’t seen him since.” Martin, in his second year out of Stanford, left the team and is seeking treatment for emotional issues. He missed Thursday’s game against the Bengals. The Herald reported that Martin, 23, was the frequent target of ribbing from his teammates as a rookie, including calling him “The Big Weirdo.” Martin, who has started all 23 games during his brief NFL career, was recently switched from left tackle to right tackle after the Dolphins (3-4) acquired veteran Bryant McKinnie. But Martin seemed to dispute the team’s official statement. “Happy Halloween!” Martin wrote in a post on his Facebook page, “Don’t believe everything you read.” While the team avoided questions about the abusive relationship between Martin and some of his teammates, other team sources reveal Martin left because he is gay and his teammates don’t like him. If Martin really is gay, the behavior of his teammates is an indicator of the NFL’s intolerance of gay players in the locker room. The Dolphins listed Martin as doubtful on this week’s injury report. “Jonathan Martin’s status was addressed on the injury report as an illness,” the newspaper reported. Martin is spending time with his family, according to a player who spoke with the lineman since Monday’s incident. What do you think happened?
