“U SELL SH*T” KANYE RIPS ZAPPOS & ZAPPOS FIRES BACK WITH THIS…
Kanye slammed Zappos.com during a recent interview and the online retailer responded with a humorous ad. The whole affair highlights how companies–like Oreo with its Twitter Super Bowl ad or Volvo with its Jean-Claude Van Damme “epic split” ad–need to be nimble and creative when it comes to commercials on the web.
Here’s what happened: West declared during a podcast: “I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he’s trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this sh– product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling sh– product.”Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos, then had a link posted on his page on Twitter to a Zappos ad of a toilet with a protruding plunger titled “Sh–.” The copy for the ad playfully uses references to some of West’s lyrics, album and song titles, including the line “This is the throne, everyone has been watching.” The item description ends with the words “for the man that has everything” and sharing a link to an article quoting West.
e…A rep for Kanye did not immediately return a request for comment.
What do you think?
