Eight Charged For Lottery Scammers

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- The eight people arrested in connection with the lottery scam in western Jamaica on Wednesday have been charged. The Jamaica Observer has learnt that they were interviewed in the presence of their attorneys and formal charges laid against them. All eight were arrested during a pre-dawn operation which saw simultaneous raids being carried out in three parishes in western Jamaica two days ago. The operation was a joint effort of detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Taskforce (MOCA), the Financial Investigations Divisions (FID) and US law enforcement agencies, including the US Postal Inspection Services.
