Portmore Mayor George Lee Dies In Florida

Portmore Mayor George Lee died this morning following a long bout of illness. Mr Lee or 'George' as he is affectionately called, created history when he became the first elected Mayor in 2003 and was recuperating from a back surgery done in Florida earlier this month. Mayor Lee was defeated after serving his first term by the JLP's Keith Hinds, but he was returned to the post in 2012. A by-election is expected to be called in the wake of his death.
