ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Police say that 23 people have been taken into custody in a joint police/military operation under way in the St Catherine community of Lakes Pen.
"Police and members of the military are carrying out several searches to locate guns and persons of interest," a police source told the Observer this afternoon.
The police say that Friday’s operation is in response to a flare up of violence in sections of Quarry Hill and surrounding areas of the parish in recent months.
