Caribbean Nations Sue Britain, Holland, France For Reparations
The British Daily Mail is reporting that 14 Caribbean countries have sued Britain, Holland and France for slavery reparations. The Caribbean nations have hired lawyers from British law firm Leigh Day who were successful in a case involving Kenyans tortured in the 1950s. Caricom is demanding compensation for the ‘awful’ legacy of Atlantic trade. Meanwhile several critics have pointed out that many of the Caricom states seeking compensation are not poor, including millionaire havens such as Barbados and the Bahamas
