PNP Lawyers File Appeal Against Trafigura
Lawyers representing Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, Colin Campbell, Phillip Paulwell and Robert Pickersgill filed an appeal last week in the Appeal Court against a ruling handed down by the Constitutional Court in the Trafigura matter. The appeal was filed on Friday October 4, after the Constitutional Court dismissed their application stating that the claimants failed to provide concrete evidence showing that they have diplomatic immunity from giving statements to Dutch authorities who want to question them in open court. In the application filed in the Appeal Court, lawyers stated that the Constitutional Court failed to recognise that their clients have diplomatic immunity and questions posed in the open Court could lead them to face criminal charges. A date has not been set for the hearing.
