Some PPV Operators Threaten To Withdraw Service

A move by the Police Traffic Division to remove tints from Public Passenger Vehicles has resulted in a threat by the National Association of Taxi Operators (NATO) to withdraw their service. NATO says it is unfair that they are being targeted while the Jamaica Urban Transit Company and JUTA tinted buses are untouched. They have also stated that they had an agreement with the former Transport Minister Mike Henry for their vehicles to be tinted and are questioning if this arrangement has been changed. The taxi group added that vehicles should only be seized if they are deemed unfit and it is illegal for the police to seize vehicles due to them having tints.
