SAY WHAT! THE HISTORY CHANNEL REMAKING “ROOTS”

All I wanna know is, who da hell gave the History Channel permission to remake this classic movie?! “Roots” is getting a reboot. The History Channel will be remaking the 1977 miniseries after nabbing the rights to the original from Mark Wolper, son of late “Roots” exec producer David L. Wolper, along with the rights to the 1976 novel “Roots: The Saga of an American Family.”“Roots” will be transformed into an eight-hour miniseries for History, with Mark Wolper exec producing. The project is said to draw from the book and 1977 mini, while offering a contemporary perspective. “Roots” debuted on ABC in January 1977, and earned dozens of Emmy noms, along with nine wins. The finale of the original “Roots” mini still ranks as the third highest-rated TV broadcast, per Nielsen ratings, with 100 million viewers. Why mess with a classic…they bet not mess it up!

 What do you think?
