Young Couple Receives 60 Years In Prison For Starving Infant! #BreakingNews

Today’s SMH comes from Grandbury, TX where Justin and Brittany Alston both 21-years-old were sentenced to 60 years in prison for starving their 9-month-old baby boy nearly to death. According to reports it took the jury only 40 minutes to decided the couple’s fate. It was reported that last December many teenagers were partying at the Alton’s mobile home park when their baby started crying. A 17-year-old who was attending the party decided to check on the baby as their parent’s had refused to check on their son. According to police reports when Magon Rutledge found the boy she said that he was emaciated and lying in urine, feces and vomit. The boy’s skin was flacking off his body and his little bones were showing through his skin. Rutledge described the events which led to her finding the baby. “Everybody’s like, ‘Justin, your baby’s crying.’ He’s like, ‘He’ll go back to sleep. He’ll go back to sleep,” Rutledge said. After finding the baby in such as state she said “I have never been so enraged in my entire life at what I saw…I wouldn’t let my dog sleep on this bed. It was so horrible.” “It was like they were a part of him. They weren’t socks anymore,” she said. She said she knew she had to get him help so she told her cousin to call his dad, a paramedic. “I was furious and I was shaking and I was breathing hard and I was trying to be as gentle as I could with this baby because I felt like if I just moved a certain way this baby would break. He was so fragile and little,” Rutledge said. “He had these big blue eyes and they were so bright but the rest of him was just like he was gone.” Rutledge put the baby in a carseat. “I didn’t want to lay him in this carseat. It smelled and it was dirty,” she said. Her uncle drove him to a local hospital and later he was airlifted to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. More disturbing evidence in this case was when police questioned the couple they told police that they were more interested in drinking and smoking marijuana than taking care of their son. Hood County District Attorney Robert Christian said that “Brittany told investigators when she was asked why she didn’t feed this baby she said that she had other things to do, like getting the oil changed in the car.” Brittany’s 18-month-old daughter was placed in foster care and her 4-year-old daughter was placed in a relatives care.
